Cambria County War Memorial Unveils A New Look

It's opening its doors to at least three thousand people in just a few days time, but the question is, will the building housing all those folks be ready?

It's been the scene of a well known movie, handfuls of musical acts, and dozens of hockey teams. But in the past 53 years that it has been open it really hasn't looked all that different, until now.

Jim Vaute, GM of the Cambria Count War Memorial, says "We have new doors, the lobby is all spit shine, new lights, new seats, new restroom....They won't even recognize the old arena because the color scheme is different and everything is brand new." Once inside the newly renovated building, you'll notice a few changes. To start, they've added an elevator as well as luxury box seating.

Money for the millions of dollars in renovations came from state grants. Mr. Vaute says the final touches are being added to make sure the building is ready for its first show. "Most of the areas are 99.9% finished. There's no concern for the general public...We'll be ready for Disney {On Ice} which is our biggest fundraiser of the year."
