Cambria County Woman Sentenced For Clearfield County Pedestrian Deaths

CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa. —

A Cambria County woman could serve decades in state prison for the deaths of a Clearfield County woman and her 3-year-old granddaughter.

Bobbi Jo Morgan was sentenced to 11 to 34 years in prison Thursday at the Clearfield County Courthouse.

She was convicted in June of several charges related to the deaths of 63-year-old Bertha Kitchen and her 3-year-old granddaughter Samantha.

Morgan told police she had just been to a methadone clinic before her car hit and killed Bertha Kitchen and her granddaughter in Mahaffey .

It was later found that Morgan was also using valium.

Morgan's attorney argued that she did not intend to cause the accident.

"She went to a licensed methadone clinic and was using prescribed methadone," said Brian Manchester.

Manchester said he plans to appeal Morgan's sentence.

Members of the Kitchen family were satisfied with the sentence, but said it isn't strict enough.

"I hope she does the entire 34 years," said Marcella Tenon, Bertha Kitchen's daughter.

District Attorney William Shaw said he was satisfied with Morgan's sentence.
