CamTran will soon be expanding

By Lindsay Ward

Johnstown, PA —

CamTran will soon be expanding. We're told the agency is already working with others in the area to coordinate new routes to better its services.

It's a move that is being pushed by PennDot and is already affecting other counties in Pennsylvania.

"So that you don't have buses following buses, and you know you might have people on one bus and more people on another bus and they're going to the same location and when we can group those all on one bus and make it more efficient," says Executive Director of CamTran, Rose Lucey-Noll.

And more cost effective. Lucey-Noll tells 6News they've already began working with the Area Agency on Aging.

"They’re located in our building in Ebensburg and the vehicles are housed there as well and it's just natural progression to look at both services and see where they can combine," says Lucey-Noll.

Besides coordinating their fixed routes, they also look forward to working more with their "Reserve a Ride” option, which allows riders to call a day in advance before their trip.

"Call to see if they want to go to the doctor, get their hair done, go shopping, and we'll try and accommodate them," says Lucey-Noll.

CamTran hopes to expand their transportation services with other human service agencies in the county, but they say this is a major project and won't be able to implement it until sometime next year.
