A local lawmaker spoke out this week in defense of the National Drug Intelligence Center in Johnstown.

Freshman U.S. Sen. Bob Casey Jr. made a case for the future of the NDIC during a debate Wednesday on Capitol Hill.

The Bush administration is trying to cut funding for the agency from the next defense budget.

Casey, along with veteran Rep. John Murtha, argued the NDIC plays a critical and unique role in the nation's anti-drug effort.
