CATA Shows Public Natural Gas Innovation

By Stef Davis

STATE COLLEGE, Pa

These buses are blazing the way in energy efficiency. CATA is a leader in fueling their fleet with environmentallyand cost-friendly compressed natural gas.

Hugh Mose, CATA General Manager, says, “This organization is progressive and on the cutting edge in compressed natural gas, onboard technology and in other ways."

And so CATA took Monday night as an opportunity to open their doors to the public. They invited dozens of people to get a sneak peek at the way compressed natural gas works with their fleet. It's a way to share ideas and open up discussions on a field that's growing and changing.

Perry Babb, Convert PA, says, "It’s such a new field that there needs to be education. We need to learn from each other. There's a synergy, no one person has all the pieces."

CATA is a pioneer in natural gas fueling in Centre County and people here hope that trend continues throughout the state.

Bill Hall, Shell Gas Innovation Center, says, “In the east, Pennsylvania is leading the way. This is great opportunity to become a state of innovation."
