Cell Phone Viruses

E-Mail Users Beware

Cell phones have become a part of everyday life and people of all ages use them, but now there's something out there that could ruin a good thing.

Todd Theimann of Trend Micro says, "As the population of these devices grows, it's going to be a more attractive target to the virus writers.

Nowadays instead of using your computer, you can check your e-mail on the run using your phone, but you have to connect through the Interneta place where hackers do their dirty work trying to infect your network with a virus. If your cell phone has Microsoft programs or the ability to download music, you could be at risk."

Stan Wozniak of Flood City Internet says, "If you download an e-mail that can affect something like that, it is possible that it could be used to affect something on your phone."

Researchers say these viruses won't destroy your entire phone, but they could attack your phone book and anything connected to Internet programs. However, there's already help out there. New software called "Mobile Security" can protect your phone from outside attacks. All you have to do is download it.

To download cell phone virus protection, click on the as mentioned link on the Channel 6 Website. That download is free through June. It will run random checks on your cell phone to keep it virus free.
