Centre County Establishing A Fuel Bank

Worries Growing About Paying The Winter Heat Bills

The rising gas prices have a record number of people signing up early for LIHEAP funding- the state and federal heating assistance program. Centre County social service administrators are worried that LIHEAP money won't be enough, and they're now working on a seperate, emergency source of funding- termed a fuel bank. Help is also coming from gas and utility companies. Centre County was aiming to get the fuel bank operating next winter, but the rising fuel prices have stepped up the schedule.
