Centre County Police Investigating Possible Telephone Scam

Officials in Centre County are warning people about a possible telephone scam.

State police said someone is calling residents, claiming that an independent company is soliciting funds for area fire departments.

Police said the caller usually asks for the "lady of the house."

Before people agree to donate any funds or give out account information, they are encouraged to contact their local fire department.
