Centre, Huntingdon Police Investigate Rash Of Robberies

Police in Centre and Huntingdon counties are investigating a rash of armed robberies to determine if they are connected.

There have been six armed robberies in the two counties over the past week.

Last weekend in Centre County, the Choice Market on North Atherton Street in Patton Township was robbed. Thursday night, a gunman held up Papa John's, also on North Atherton Street.

Friday night, the Domino's Pizza on North Atherton Street in Ferguson Township was robbed by a man with a semiautomatic handgun. Early Sunday, a similar robbery took place at the Uni-Mart on West College Avenue.

In Huntingdon County, A Mini-Mart was robbed in Shade Gap on Saturday, just after 5 a.m. Then on Sunday afternoon, the Uni-Mart in Warriors Mark was robbed.

State police in Huntingdon County said they do not believe the two robberies there are connected to those in Centre County, but Ferguson Township Police Chief Diane Conrad said several police departments compared notes on Monday.

Police said they are stunned by the number of robberies and said they fear the gunman could do harm, though he has not so far.

Police described the Centre County robber as a thin white male between 5 feet 8 inches and 6 feet tall wearing all black.

During some of the incidents, the robber wore two bandanas, one on his head and one covering his face. During another robbery, the gunman wore a ski mask.

Anyone with information about any of the robberies is asked to call police.
