Changes Coming For PA's Megan's Law

Ebensburg —

Here are some of the big changes coming to Megans Law. Information on all sexual predators will now be listed on the internet in Pennsylvania not just those for sexually violent predators. There are roughly 50 sexual violent predators in Pennsylvania and 7,000 sexual predators. It will also now be a crime to lure a child into a vehicle and a child's age will be 18 and under. These changes will mainly affect the state police and how they can enforce Megan's Law. They will soon be able to arrest a sexual predator for not letting police know where they live. And you will be able to find out if someone is a sexual predator in Pennsylvania and where they live.

Trooper Steve Barto is with the Pennsylvania State Police. He tells Channel 6 News, "We're hoping, first of all, that the public does take advantage of this. If there's someone that you're not sure of in your neighborhood or community we hope that you would use that. It is out there for your tool."

If you have suspicions about someone go to the As Mentioned linked on this website and well link you to the website to find sexual predators. Changes to the Megan's Law bill are expected to be signed by Governor Ed Rendell before Thanksgiving.
