STATE COLLEGE, Pa. —
The Christmas Day weather system brought in a mix of freezing rain and sleet, before switching over to plain rain.
Communities located in higher elevations also saw snow in the mix.
In Altoona, many side streets were covered in ice.
A stretch of Interstate 99 northbound in Blair County was shut down briefly after a woman lost control of her car and skidded into the median.
In Centre County, WJAC-TV crews found sleet pelting down on homes in Philipsburg.
Inside the terminal at State College Airport, a number of travelers were left waiting for delayed flights.
"Well, I can definitely say it's going to make a great story to tell my friends,” said Erin Cook.
Cook’s flight to Detroit was delayed for several hours.
"Well, I just hope everybody has a Merry Christmas and isn't delayed too long,” said Cook.
