City Council Meeting Gets Heated

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. —

It was another fiery meeting Wednesday night for the Johnstown City Council.

It was once again standing room only, as many people wanted to hear who would be appointed as acting city manager in place of Curt Davis. Council didn't appoint anyone, even though it was on the agenda. They claimed that they have no candidates. Also, councilman Jack Williams proposed an ordinance to collect delinquent garbage fees, but there was so much confusion over it that council decided to table the issue. That angered Williams, who then attempted to table every ordinance. At the end of the meeting, Williams resigned as finance chair. Council ignored Williams' attempts to table the issues. Instead, they passed the first read of the mayor's ordinance to fight blight in the city. Mayor Tom Trigona wants to crack down on blight, as well as drugs and weapons by labeling the properties as disruptive.
