Clearfield County Child Rape Suspect Remains At Large

After several reported sightings, the search for a man accused of raping a local child continued Thursday.

Sherman Graham, 43, is wanted on charges of raping a 4-year-old girl Monday morning in a Covington Township home. When police responded to the home, Graham ran into a nearby wooded area.

Graham, of Frenchville, is 5 feet 10 inches tall, 300 pounds, with long brown hair, a mustache and a goatee.

After he fled, police said Graham stole a blue Chevy S-10 pickup truck. He was reportedly spotted in Buffalo, N.Y., Wednesday morning, where his ex-girlfriend lives.

Around 9 p.m. Wednesday, Graham was seen on the Ohio Turnpike near Maumee, about 180 miles west of Pennsylvania. Police said Graham did have money to pay to toll so he rammed a toll gate and was last seen heading south.

Investigators said they are working closely with Ohio state police.

"We're looking for him to make a mistake somewhere. He doesn't have any money with him, so he's probably going to steal or rob someone else to get where he is headed," said Trooper David Patrick, of the Pennsylvania State Police barracks in Clearfield.

Police said they aren't sure why Graham is in Ohio, since he has no known ties to the state. They don't believe he is armed, but Patrick said, given Graham's history, he could steal a weapon.

Anyone with information on Graham's whereabouts is asked to call 814-857-3800.
