Clearfield County Community Hoping Clouds Roll In

CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa. —

Residents in the Clearfield County town of Ansonville are being asked to conserve, as their water supply continues to be dangerously low. In fact, last week they even ran out of water.

Most people welcome a sunny day, but for folks in Ansonville, they'd rather see the rain clouds. Members of the water authority realized they had a big problem on their hands when the chairman complained about low water pressure in his house. When members checked the reservoir, there was only a foot of water inside. By Wednesday, there was only 3 inches of water left.

With the reservoirs virtually dried up, they were forced to turn off the water for two days. It affected 21 households in the area.

"No showers, no washing clothes, nothing," said Sharyn Dudurich with the water authority.

On Friday, Ansonville got some much needed help from the Houtzdale Volunteer Fire Department. They delivered water, but now that supply is going fast. Members of the water authority said buying more isn't an option because it's $80 per load.

Rain is fore-casted for Thursday, but if the soaking showers don't show up, the water for Ansonville could be shut off again.
