Clearfield County Man In Court, Accused Of Killing Mother

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, Pa. —

A Clearfield County man will face trial on charges that he killed his mother in March.

Jesse James Campbell was in court today for a preliminary hearing.

He faces murder charges after police say he killed Cindy Jo Coleman after a dispute involving a computer.

Coleman was found dead in the early-morning hours of March 13.

Police said Campbell had spoken with friends about killing his mother in the hours leading up to her death.

Court documents showed Coleman had asked her son to return her computer by that morning, but that he went to her Woodward Township apartment, woke her up and then hit her several times with a plastic weight.

Police said he then cut her on the neck several times with a kitchen knife and read her the Bible as she died.

Campbell must go on trial within six months.
