Clearfield County officials prepare for election day

By Brittany Boyer

CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa. —

Election Day is just four days away which means employees that work for their county elections offices are busy.

"Presidential is always busier, always busier. With the challenges with the voter id law and the storm it has created havoc within the office, but we've managed to get through and we're right on schedule and on time," said Clearfield County Elections Director, Dawn Graham.

On Friday, Graham and her colleagues spent the day going through absentee ballots.

In Clearfield County, all absentee ballots were due into the elections office by 5 p.m.

"We take the boxes. They then go into the supply boxes and they will go out to the polls," she said.

For those filling out an absentee ballot they were only able to do so with a legitimate reason. Graham said if you submitted an absentee ballot and you plan on being in your designated county on Tuesday, you have to go to the polls.

"If you are within your municipality you are required to go to the polls regardless if you have voted absentee. So they have to be there. If the go there, they can void the absentee ballot and send it back into us," said Graham.
