Commissioners ratify new union contract at Centre Co. prison

By WJAC Web Staff

CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. —

Despite cutting positions and a tight county budget, a new union contract is in place for more than 60 guards at the Centre County Correctional Facility.

The recent loss of state prison inmates resulted in a loss of more than $680,000 in revenue for the county- and it also meant eight part-time positions were cut at the prison.

On Tuesday, the county commissioners ratified a three-year contract with the 66 remaining corrections personnel at the jail.

The contract calls for an annual 2 percent salary increase for prison personnel.
