Community coming together to help those affected by fire in Clearfield

By Brittany Boyer

CLEARFIELD, Pa. —

In even the toughest of times the local community is coming together to help those who were affected by the fire in downtown Clearfield.

State police said the fire started around 10:50 p.m. on Saturday along North Third Street.

The fire left more than a dozen people homeless and about $750,000 in damage.

Less than 48 hours after the fire, the community is already coming together to help those in need.

Kellie Swales, the Main Street Manager for the Clearfield Revitalization Corporation said it's great to see neighbors helping neighbors.

"It's so inspiring to see so many people wanting to help one another and that's what I love about small towns. They all are for one another and it's like we're all one big family helping out those who are in loss right now."

Swales said that a fundraiser is already in the works to help those affected by the fire.

So far, Buster's is sponsoring the venue location of the fundraiser.

The benefit will be held at the Clearfield County fairgrounds inside the Expo I building.

Organizers said they are looking for donations of: food, drinks, plates, cups, silverware etc.

The event will also serve as a drop-off location for those looking to donate items to families who were affected by the fire.
