Community Helps Charity Hit By Thieves

BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. —

There's been an outpouring of support as Habitat for Humanity in Blair County tries to finish a group of homes after someone stole all of the tools.

WJAC first reported about the break-in at the Habitat for Humanity house on Saturday. Since the, the calls have been pouring in with people wanting to help, either by donating their time or tools.

The home along Spruce Avenue in Altoona was set to be done by Christmas for a man named Ken Broden, his wife and his two daughters. According to police, sometime Friday night someone broke in and stole the tools and the generator, bringing work on his house and others to standstill.

Habitat officials said they were able to borrow some tools and get more work done this weekend, but at this point no more work days have been scheduled.

"All of these builds went over budget so financially we need to get them done," said Santa Mosey with Blair County Habitat for Humanity. "We've been trying to get them finished and get these families in before Christmas. This doesn't help."

So far, Altoona police have not said if they have any leads in the case.
