Community Support Needed To Keep Windber Medical Center Afloat

Related

Officials with Windber Medical Center are asking for the public's support to survive as an independent hospital.

The medical center recently spit from Conemaugh Health System.

At the center's annual meeting Wednesday night, board Chairman Ted Holler said, "We need to have the community support us and that was the purpose of tonight: to gather community support for the hospital. Without patients, no hospital survives."

Hospital President Nick Jacobs said one benefit of the split from Conemaugh will be the fusion of the medical center with the Windber Research Institute.

Jacobs said that partnership will allow patients to have access to the full line of capabilities of the institute.
