Conklin Accepts Lt. Gov. Nomination, Saidel Concedes

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. —

According to Centre County and Department of State officials, Scott Conklin is officially the Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor.

The announcement was made when former Philadelphia city Controller Jonathan Saidel conceded Wednesday afternoon, following eight days of speculation.

Saidel’s concession means an automatic statewide recount will not be triggered, which was expected to cost around $500,000 in taxpayer’s money.

Conklin told WJAC-TV’s Gary Sinderson he’s looking forward to organizing campaign efforts with Democratic gubernatorial nominee Dan Onorato.

“It’s been constant waiting,” said Conklin. “As you know, 75 precincts were out, but today its only a few hundred votes different than it was a week ago.”
