Constable Detained

A local law enforcement official says he was recently held against his will in a county prison and it was prison administrators who wouldn't let him leave. This is unusual on two counts, one you're talking about a police officer or law enforcement personnel in a situation with a jail where they can get in, but they cant get out in this case it involved escorting an inmate and two this is not the first the time its happened at the Centre County prison. Almost the same exact situation happened at the same jail several years ago. Centre County Commissioner Scott Conklin confirming an investigation is underway involving Centre County prison staff. A constable says he was on a prisoner escort. He took the inmate back to the Centre County prison, but jail officials said the inmate was to go to the Clinton County prison. An argument ensued and the constable was held at the prison for about 20 minutes. Whether new Centre County prison warden Martin Kovacs was involved is unclear, but this isn't a first for the jail. In 1997 a State College police officer was held in the jail for well over 15 minutes despite repeated attempts to get out. After the 1997 incident a prison administrator was suspended for three days. What happens this time is still to be determined.
