Coroner: Slain 6-Week-Old Infant Had Alcohol In His System

A coroner said the death of a Huntingdon County infant was a homicide, though state police have yet to charge anyone in the case.

The baby, 6-week-old Andrew Konner Boyd, was found dead July 14 in his bassinet at a home in Smithfield Township.

Authorities said the infant's mother had left the boy with a sitter the night before, fed him after she returned home about 3 a.m. and found him dead later that afternoon.

Huntingdon County Deputy Coroner Timothy Skippers said the boy died of trauma to the abdomen, which resulted in a major blood loss.

The infant also had a broken arm, cracked skull and alcohol in his system.

County District Attorney George Zanic has declined to comment on the ongoing investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
