Could A Local Bridge Get A New Name?

Johnstown —

A Johnstown bridge would bear the name of a medal of honor recipient if a state lawmaker gets his way. State Representative Edward Wojnaroski, D-Johnstown, has introduced a bill to rename the Napoleon Street Bridge in the city after Edward Silk, a native of Johnstown and a medal of honor recipient. Wojnaroski says it's an important to remember Silk because only

four Cambria County residents have ever been awarded the medal. Silk was a First Lieutenant in the army's E Company in the 398th infantry regiment, 100th infantry division. Silk died in November 1955 at age 39 after undergoing surgery for a bleeding ulcer.
