Council Grants Interest-Free Chance To Pay Back

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. —

Johnstown City Council decided they will grant amnesty for those with over-due garbage bills until August.

But this is costing the city.

More than $600,000 are due from 2007, 2008, and 2009.

Council members said they will turn the problem over to a collection agency in the fall.

At that point the city will not carry the burden any longer, instead, each person will be held accountable for their own credit report.

Residents who have been paying their bills all along said this is unfair.

They do not believe these late bill payers should be given any more chances.
