County Building Increases Security

The cost of increasing security we are paying more for it one way or another including how tax dollars are being spent to make government facilities safer. Centre County officials are close to wrapping up a lengthy project to upgrade their government buildings. They're being cited as a model for what you can expect in the coming months when you visit a county office. Making facilities more secure has been ongoing since September 11th. This past summer there was even a bullet shot through a window at the Willowbank Building in Bellefonte which houses a lot of Centre County government offices. With more than 800 county employees here the priority was stepped up in terms of trying to ensure a safer work environment. Metal detectors have been in place now for awhile at the Centre County government offices, but now if you come in you can also expect to be on camera. Its all part of nearly 200 thousand dollars in security upgrades, new surveillance equipment, reinforced doors, and other measures installed. Along with the sherrif's deputies keeping a tight check on whose coming in and what they're carrying, last July's bullet being shot through a Willowbank building window, put added focus on increased security at Willowbank and the courthouse building.
