County Run Nursing Home Major Burden For Some

The nursing home business was once a booming industry. now many county run nursing homes are losing money. A decade ago Somerset county use to own a nursing home but they left the business because it wasn't profitable.

Back in the 1990s Maple Mountain Manor in Somerset was in bad shape financially. They were losing $200,000 a year. A large sum of money the county could not afford. The county sold the business and the home is now privately owned.

Many counties across the Alleghenies are struggling to survive. Cambria County loses anywhere between $400,000 and $600,000 a month. Blair County's Valley View is also in debt.
