Cresson Twp. Man Arrested In Mother's Fatal Shooting

Police: Andrew Choros Charged With Murder

CRESSON TWP., Pa. —

Pennsylvania State police said they arrested and charged a Cresson Township man in connection with his mother's fatal shooting.

Investigators said Andrew Joseph Choros, 23, fatally shot his mother, Sharon Choros, 50, Friday at about 4:45 p.m.

Police in Ebensburg and Cresson Township said the shooting occurred at the family's home at 505 Central Avenue in Cresson Township.

Officers said Choros was arrested and charged with DUI a few hours earlier.

Authorities told WJAC-TV that Choros fired rounds into his furniture at the same time his mother came home.

Police said she confronted him about the damage and he shot her, sat down to watch television, heard her moaning and shot her again.

Investigators said shortly after that, Choros' dad Michael came home and walked inside with a neighbor to find his wife in a pool of blood and his son with a shotgun in his hand.

Police said Michael Choros wrestled the gun away from his son, and that's when he took off.

Officers said they found Choros 18 minutes later.

Choros is charged with murder in the first degree and criminal homicide, police said.

Investigators haven't released a motive in the case and are asking people with information about the case to call police.
