Crews Accidentally Rupture Gas Line On Pitt-Johnstown Campus

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. —

Construction workers struck and ruptured a gas line at the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown campus on Thursday.

There were no reported injuries and the leak was quickly contained.

The workers hit the line on Highfield Avenue around 9 a.m. while they were doing work at the school.

The Richland Fire Department and a crew from Peoples Natural Gas worked fast to get the leak under control so no one had to be evacuated.

As of noon, officials said gas service should not be disrupted.
