Crime Stoppers offering reward for information leading to homicide arrest

By Maria Miller

RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, Pa. —

While police continue to investigate a homicide in Richland Township, Cambria County Crime Stoppers has stepped in to help out by offering a $4,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.

Robert Williams passed away over the weekend, two days after being shot twice in the head. Police said it happened inside his Richland Township home last week.

It's not only the first homicide in Cambria County this year; police said it's the first one in Richland Township since the early 1990s.

At first police called it a home invasion, but it quickly turned into a targeted attack. And while the details are still very limited, police said Monday it's not just another homice. They said it was a horrific killing.

"This was a cold-blooded killing," said Detective Kevin Gaudlip of the Richland Township police department. "It's a homicide that took place inside a residence and we believe a robbery was the motive."

But that's about all police said they know. It was last Thursday night around 8that police said Williams was shot in the head at his home along Lydia Street in Richland Township. He died two days later.

"My dad's a good guy. I don't know who would want to do this," said Williams' daughter Jade Williams during a prayer vigil Sunday afternoon. "He's left me and his son without him now and whoever did this, it just isn't fair."

"At this point we're working on a lot of different leads," said Detective Thomas Keirn. "We're trying to make some determination on some people involved."

Police said Williams was not home alone when he was attacked. They said a small child was inside but they wouldn't confirm who the child is or what the child saw.

Police hope the reward being offered by Cambria County Crime Stoppers will bring information to help them solve the case.

"The types of people that commit these types of crimes are going to continue to commit these types of crimes whether it be in our area or someone else's area," said Gaudlip. "It's imperative that we do everything we can possibly do to bring these people to justice."

"If anyone knows anything, just please, come tell... Say something," said Jade Williams.

Anyone with information is urged to call 1-800.281.1680. Police said they will follow up on every lead they receive. All calls can remain anonymous.
