Decision on Blair Co. nursing home's future could come this week

By WJAC Web Staff

BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. —

A decision on the future of Blair County's nursing home could come this week.

Final bids for the purchase of Valley View were due at 2 p.m. Monday. WRTA Radio in Altoona reported that once bidding is closed, the county commissioners could vote as early as Tuesday to sell the property.

Reportedly, five potential firms are still interested in the nursing home, with bids ranging from $12 million to $16 million.

The commissioners have said a sale may be necessary to keep the county in the black.

Employees of the nursing home have repeatedly rallied against the sale.
