Democrats Across 12th Dictrict Vote For Candidate For Special Election

12th District Democratic Recommendation Convention

DELMONT, Pa. —

The 12th District Democratic Recommendation Convention kicked off Saturday morning in Delmont, Pa.

The purpose of the meeting was to find out who the majority of Democrats in 9 counties want to be put on the ballot for the special election in May.

Ryan Bucchianeri, Ed Cernic Jr. , Barbara Hafer and Mark Critz were given five minutes to give their statements and then the voting started shortly after.

After tallying up almost a hundred votes, Mark Critz was the candidate these Democrats have chosen who had 47 votes.

Pennsylvania Democratic Party Chairman T.J. Rooney said, "The vote taken today (Saturday) is a non-binding recommendation. That said, the members of the Executive Committee will certainly take these results under consideration this Monday when they decide our nominee. It should be noted that the final decision rests solely with the 50 members of the Pennsylvania Democratic Party Executive Committee."
