Departmental dispute may lead to layoffs for dozens of Bedford Co. employees

BEDFORD COUNTY, Pa. —

Bedford County may be forced to lay off dozens of employees in the coming weeks as it deals with a financial crisis.

Wednesday's Altoona Mirror reported that a departmental dispute between the county commissioners and President Judge William Ling has tied up $200,000 that had been earmarked for payroll.

The commissioners also blame slow state-to-county payments, overtime and poor financial planning for their deficit.
