DEVELOPING STORY: Clearfield Suspect Captured

Clearfield County —

Wednesday night, a Lawrence Township police officer was assaulted by a man suspected of breaking and entering a home on the Glen-Richey Highway. Following the assault, the suspect fled in the officer's patrol car. The car was later found, but there was no sign of the suspect. Meanwhile, the injured officer was flown to Altoona Regional Health System, where he is in stable condition. The manhunt includes over ten police agencies from State College to Saint Mary's. Several k-9 units are on the scene, trying to sniff out the suspect, and a State Police helicopter scoured overhead for signs of the suspect. Officials say the search may last several more hours.

"Right now, I don't know of anybody, any plans to terminate this search. As far as I know. Right now, we're going to keep this manhunt going until we have someone in custody," said Clearfield District Attorney William Shaw, Jr.

Police say they are looking for a white male around 6' tall, in his late 20s or early 30s. He has short hair and was last seen wearing a dark green shirt and blue jeans. He may also be carrying some kind of backpack.
