Downtown Businesses Weigh In On Vacant Buildings

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. —

Some business owners said they are concerned about the lack of businesses, others said they aren't worried a bit.

Rite Aid recently announced they would be buying out the Eckerd store in downtown Johnstown, but since another store is only a block away, they will close the location.

The store closing will add to the already high number of vacant storefronts in the downtown area.

Some business owners told Channel 6 News they were concerned about the number of vacancies, and that it has had an impact on business.

But other owners said they haven't seen an impact but that could be because they have specialty stores.

All the owners Channel 6 News spoke with said they are hopeful for a downtown revival very soon.
