Company officials refused to make a comment about Wednesday's decision to remove the employees.
Workers driving out of the factory Wednesday blame the economy and high gas prices for the lack of work at the factory.
Somerset County Commissioner John Vatavuk said he anticipated the lay offs were coming, but is still disappointed by the news.
The earliest the workers will be called back to work at the factory will be sometime in October.
