Driver Reaches For Fruit Juice, Strikes 9-Year-Old Girl

A 9-year-old Indiana County girl was airlifted to the hospital after a car swerved and struck her while she was in her front yard.

According to a police report, 54-year-old Linda Scherrah was driving on Georgeville Road in Mahoning Township when a bottle of fruit juice fell from her cup holder.

When Scherrah tried to retrieve the bottle from under her feet, she swerved, overcorrected and slid out of control.

The Chevy Astro van struck Abigail Baker, throwing her against the front porch.

Baker suffered a large cut on her back, officials said. Her condition was not known Friday morning.
