A Clearfield County man was arrested Tuesday after police said he molested a 10-year-old girl over the course of one year. 

Karl Porter, 39, of Treasure Lake has been charged with 12 counts of aggravated indecent assault of a child and 12 counts of indecent assault. 

According to the criminal complaint, Sandy Township Police began an investigation into the sexual assault of the female child in September. 

Authorities said during the investigation it was found that for over a year, Porter had routinely sexually molested the girl. 

Police said the female was interviewed and reported that Porter had inappropriately touched her. 

Officials said the child said Porter held her hand and caused her to inappropriately touch his private area. 

According to the criminal complaint, all incidents happened inside of a home in Sandy Township. 

Porter's bail was set at $100,000. 

He remains in the Clearfield County jail.

Clearfield County District Attorney, Bill Shaw said, "complaints of this nature are extremely troubling and every effort must be made to identify, investigate and prosecute those who victimize children."
