DuBois Math Teacher Killed In Crash

FOX TOWNSHIP, Pa. —

A DuBois High School math teacher died Wednesday morning after a car accident in Fox Township, Elk County.

Benjamin Friedl, 27, of St. Marys, died after his car crossed the centerline of Route 255 and hit a pickup truck.

The driver of the truck, Thomas Resch, 41, of Kersey, had major injuries and was taken to the hospital.

DuBois Area School District officials said Friedl was in his first year of teaching at the high school.

They added that Friedl had become very popular with students.

Along with teaching, Friedl was a volunteer camp cadet counselor for Troop C of the Pennsylvania State Police.

Troopers at the Ridgway barracks said Ben Friedl was instrumental in shaping their camp cadet program.

"He shaped so many kids as a counselor and, recently, as a teacher at DuBois," said Trooper Bruce Morris. "He will be missed."
