Efforts To Fundraise For Historic Bridge Hit Milestone

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. —

A two-year effort to raise funds for the restoration of Johnstown's historic Stone Bridge has now topped the $1 million mark.

The group that's been raising the money set a goal of $1.2 million two years ago.

The planned makeover of the 123-year-old bridge will involve improvements to its facade and new colored LED lighting.

The Stone Bridge over the Conemaugh River survived the 1889 Johnstown flood.
