Family Awaiting Soldier's Return

The Weavers have a tradition of getting together every Sunday to share a mean, and by next weekend they'll have one more place to set.

The entire family is anxiously awaiting the return of Spc. Brian Weaver.

"We're just really thankful he's coming back," Hope Benning, Weaver's sister said. "Dad got cancer while he was gone and we just really needed him back."

Weaver is part of the more than 4,000 National Guardsmen returning to Pennsylvania.

The 56th Styker Brigade worked north of Baghdad and conducted nearly 1,000 combined operations with Iraqi security forces.

They left in January. Benning recalls her brother watched this year's Super Bowl between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Arizona Cardinals from the airport. Benning is also hoping people will donate items for the homecoming party she's organizing.

"I want to be able to give every soldier a door prize. Like a gift to thank them for their service for us," Benning said.
