Family Services 10K-5K Race Sees Biggest Turnout

Every 10 seconds, a woman is assaulted by a stranger, friend or partner in the United States.

Sunday morning, over 250 people hit the pavement to raise awareness against sexual assault and domestic violence against women.

The sixth annual 10K-5K Race and Walk saw it's biggest turnout in its history.

The race circled the campus of Penn State Altoona.

The goal was to reach $5,500 so that Family Services Inc. to receive matching funds from the STOP grant program. STOP is a federal program that coordinates services between law enforcement, prosecution and victim services in Blair County.

WJAC News was a partner in Sunday's event.
