Fatal Fire Victims' Relatives Say Goodbye

Three Everett Fire Victims Remembered

BEDFORD, Pa. —

Friends and family are starting to say their goodbyes to three people who died in a duplex fire last week. But it is clear those victims will never be forgotten.

Late Tuesday night, fire broke out at a duplex in West Providence Township, claiming three lives.

One of those people was ten-year-old Andre Ramirez. Ramirez was a sports and video game fanatic, who wanted to be a paleontologist.

His uncle, David Echeverria, said, "He was a happy kid. It was just amazing. It was not something that we just noticed recently. It's always been noticed in our family. We've all talked about how great of a kid he was and how smart he is."

Donna Day, Andre's grandmother, also died in the fire. She was a waitress at Perkins, who always carried a picture of Andre.

"She just had a huge heart. Do anything for anybody,” Echeverria said. “Just a dedicated mother and grandmother. She always stood by our side."

The third victim was Day’s best friend, Tara Vineyard. The pair spent most of their time at the duplex, where they loved to have barbeques.

"A really smart lady. Well-educated, well-spoken. Always had a great point of view and a good outlook on life," said Echeverria.

Investigators say the fire was accidental, but that does little to ease the family's pain.

"I can't put it into words how much we're going to really miss him, and we're going to miss everyone,” said Echeverria. “Going to miss my mother and Tara just as much, too."

Funeral arrangements have been made for Day and Ramirez. The viewings are at the Jack Geisel Funeral home, along Raystown Road in Everett, on Monday from 2-4 p.m., and again from 6-8 p.m. The funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10 a.m.
