In Blair County, officials said a $2.6 million program for at-risk teens is mostly paid for by the federal government. If the government pulls funding permanently, county officials said it will be an added burden on the county.
In Cambria County, commissioners discussed the possible loss of funding at a meeting Friday. They said the federal government stopped payments because they have issues with the way the state keeps records for the program.
There are nearly 200 children in the program, which is similar to a foster home for kids who are suffering from behavioral problems.
In the worst case, the federal government could pull funding and the state would have to pick up 80 percent of the cost. But Cambria County Commissioner P.J. Stevens said it's not guaranteed that the state would even pay that much because of budget cuts.
