Fire destroys barn at Fairman Farms

By Brittany Boyer

SANDY TOWNSHIP, Pa. —

A barn at Fairman farms went up in flames early Sunday morning.

Sandy Township fire chief, Steve Dunlap told 6 News that a 9-year-old neighbor noticed the fire just after 2:30 a.m.

Dunlap said when firefighters arrived on scene the fire was already fully involved.

Fairman farms is located along Juniata Street extension in Dubois.

Dunlap said that the barn that was destroyed had at least five tractors inside of it. Dunlap said that the barn was primarily used for equipment storage.

Officials said that their main priority was containing the fire to just one barn.  Dunlap said that the bigger barn behind it was where the animals were kept.

One of the owners of Fairman farms told 6 News that the animals were not in the barn at the time of the fire.

There were no injuries.

Dunlap estimates that the damage is between $300,000-$500,000.

A Pennsylvania state police fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
