Fire Destroys Clearfield County Home, Damages Two Others

A state fire marshal is investigating a Clearfield County fire that destroyed one home and damaged two others.

The fire was reported just before 6 a.m. Wednesday. Within minutes, the roof collapsed onto the second floor of the home on Morrisdale-Allport Highway, just outside Philipsburg.

Flames spread to a neighboring home and a third home suffered water damage in the basement.

Five people escaped without injury though the home was destroyed.

Tyler Bryan, who lived in the home, said, "My stuff was all upstairs and the ceiling collapsed. I have nothing except for the clothes on my back. I was dead asleep. I didn't know anything was going on until I got outside. The two sides of this house were burning. That's what indicated it started in the attic."

Firefighters rescued a cat from the home, but four other pets died in the blaze.

The American Red Cross branch in State College was at the scene helping college students who were displaced.
