JAY TOWNSHIP, Pa. —
Nearly 40 charges have been filed after a church break-in on Oct. 26.
The catch is, it wasn't a normal break in.
Trooper Ronald Chewning of the Pennsylvania State Police said burglars broke into the Gardner Hill Community Church.
Inside, officials said they left behind a dear carcass.
According to the criminal complaint five people have been charged.
The complaint lists the five people as 19 to 23 years old.
Officials said an anonymous tip provided several names of possible people involved.
According to the complaint, the group of five told police they were drinking and playing cards in St.Mary's. Officials said they then decided to drive around.
Troopers said one of the men obtained a Ruger Black Hawk .22 caliber pistol.
Officials said he shot a deer and loaded it into a vehicle.
Between midnight and 6 a.m., police said they then broke into the Gardner Hill Community church.
Officials said they forced the front door open. While inside officials said they broke a window, and stole a stereo.
On Monday, the four men and one woman were charged with multiple charges.
Burglary, firearms not to be carried without license, theft, receiving stolen property, criminal mischief, vandalism, disorderly conduct, unlawful killing or taking of big game, are some of the charges.
The five are expected to appear in front of a judge in February for their preliminary hearing.
