The National Weather Service has issued severe weather alerts, including wind advisories and flood watches, for much of the 6 News viewing area.
The weather service in State College has issued a wind advisory which is in effect until noon Thursday for many counties in the WJAC-TV viewing area. Winds are expected from 25-35 mph with localized wind gusts up to 55 mph.

Strong winds may cause minor property damage, tree damage and sporadic power outages. Drivers in high-profile vehicles should use caution until the wind subsides, the weather service said.
An areal flood watch is in effect from 1 p.m. Wednesday until 7 a.m. on Thursday, including the counties of Bedford, Blair, Cambria, Cameron, Clearfield, Elk, Centre, Somerset and other local areas.
The National Weather Service in State College said heavy rain is expected later on Thursday. The runoff from heavy rain combined with melting snow is expected to cause streams and rivers to rise significantly.
Small streams and creeks will see the greatest risk for flooding given the potential for heavy rainfall to occur over a short duration. Main stem rivers will have a slower response to the heavy rainfall but still may experience minor flooding, the weather service said.
A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding on small streams, creeks, poor drainage, urban and low-lying areas based on current forecasts. River flooding is also possible. People who live in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
