Folk, Ethnic Festivals Begin Friday

Preparations were under way Friday for two great festivals in Cambria County.

At the Johnstown Folk Festival, Jimmy Adler will perform on the Toyota stage at 6:30 p.m., followed by Too Slim and the Taildraggers at the Highmark stage, then the Slavic Soul Party at 9 p.m.

The Cambria City Ethnic Festival will also be in full swing with world cuisine, great music and church tours. The festival runs Friday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturday from noon to 10 p.m.; and from noon to 9 p.m. on Sunday.

Also, for the first time, folk and ethnic festival organizers teamed up to provide a trolley from one event to the other that will run from Point Stadium to 4th and Chestnut Streets in Cambria City.

The Folk Festival will not have a shuttle from the Hiram G. Andrews Center in Upper Yoder Township, but the Log House Arts Festival will still have its yellow school bus shuttle from that location.
