Folk Music At Juniata College

Folk College With Simple Gifts Gives Three Day Seminar

They're going to be pickin and grinin this weekend at Juniata College in Huntingdon as folk music artists from all over the East Coast come together to share their talent. It's the sixth annual folk college and it's a festival held for musicians by musicians. Artist's will be offering workshops for music makers who want to learn more about their craft and instrument. Some just want to know where folk music started.

John Rossbach will be instructing guitar this weekend he and three strangers came together for the first time today and began to play...Without knowing each other and without any kind of practice. Rossbach says the way they can do this is through a common repertoire.

"It's sort of like a smile - it's infectious & it picks up with different people & the music can do that if you know the language of the smile. You can smile & we were playing a common denominator music it's common in the repertoire"

Different groups will come together all weekend to give concerts Friday, Saturday and a free concert on Sunday after noon at 2:30. For more information and schedule of weekend events you can log on to http://simplegiftsmusic.com/folkcollege - or call 814-643-6220.
